Arun Chaudhary is a filmmaker working in politics. He was a key member of Barack Obama’s New Media team during the presidential campaign and transition period. As the New Media Road Director, Arun oversaw the team responsible for capturing the day-to-day life of the future president in video and stills. He traveled with the candidate on his plane, filming both public events and behind-the-scenes moments.

He and his team have set a new standard in documenting history, delivering crucial images to the public from the road in real timeusing consumer-grade computers and cameras. They often posted their footage online within minutes of shooting it.

Before joining the Obama team, Arun worked in fiction film in New York as a writer, director, location sound recordist, post-production sounddesigner, and film critic. For five years, he was part of the NYUGraduate Film Department faculty. He got his MFA in Filmmaking from NYU and his BA in Film Theory from Cornell University.

His work documenting the Obama campaign has been featured in the National Journal, Fortune Magazine Online, and as part of the FrogDesign Mind Series. He currently lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Laura Moser, and their son, Leo.
